NAME: JESSICA PRANCE


ROLE/TITLE: CLINICAL LEAD PHYSIOTHERAPIST – ICU/CARDIOTHORACIC’s


ORGANISATION: HUMBER HEALTH PARTNERSHIP – CASTLE HILL HOSPITAL

ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

I am a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist with a passion for respiratory physiotherapy. Currently I am responsible for 3x cardiology/cardiothoracic wards and 2x ICU units.My responsibilities include teaching, leadership, service development, research analysis. I thrive on the challenge of developing staff to become valued members of our physiotherapy on-call service.

HOW I CAN HELP: I can offer workshops/in-service training on the above topics. I can support staff who have an interest in simulation to set up faculty/develop a simulation program from scratch. I can run debriefing sessions exploring the benefits of alternative debriefing tools.  I can support with intensive care/emergency care simulation events.

WHY SPARK?: When I started my current role simulation had not been integrated into physiotherapy training. Through SPARK I have been able to network with others who supported me to set up on-call simulation training with great success!

NAME: Donna Major

ROLE: Group Head of Learning
ORGANISATION: NHS Humber Health Partnership – Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust / Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust

ABOUT MY ROLE:

I lead the strategic development of learning and development across the Humber Health Partnership, supporting workforce growth, leadership capability, and education initiatives. My role focuses on ensuring learning translates into meaningful improvements in practice, with a strong emphasis on enhancing patient care through high-quality training and development.

NAME: Michaela Cullen

ROLE/TITLE: Lead Simulation Officer

ORGANISATION: York and Scarborough Trust , Scarborough site

ABOUT YOUR ROLE: I oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of clinical skills and simulation-based training across both sites. Working from Scarborough, I manage course logistics, allocate medical skills trainers, and source or create the equipment needed for education. I design and build bespoke medical training models using 3D printing, silicone casting, and other innovative techniques, and I provide special‑effects makeup for simulated patients to enhance realism during in‑situ scenarios. I also support clinical teams during in situ simulations and lead the promotion of our programmes by helping to create social media content, posters, and managing course bookings.

NAME: Kat Langthorne

ROLE/TITLE: Technology Officer

ORGANISATION: York and Scarborough Trust , York site

ABOUT YOUR ROLE: I support the planning and delivery of clinical skills and simulation-based training at York Hospital. This includes coordinating the allocation of medical skills trainers and sourcing the equipment required for teaching, as well as occasionally developing small in-house training models. I also assist clinical teams during in situ simulations. Alongside this, I use my graphic design background to produce the Medical Education newsletter, as well as promotional materials and social media content.

Anything graphic design – digital or print

HOW I CAN HELP :

  • Help designing posters, digital media, and course advertising for training sessions.

ROLE TITLE: HILS Administrator

ABOUT MY ROLE

I provide administrative support across a range of functions, including centre administration, room bookings, ordering supplies, induction coordination, and the administration of CPD funding applications. I also support simulation-based training by providing moulage makeup to create realistic clinical scenarios that enhance learning and training experiences.

NAME: Kirsty Stephenson

ROLE/TITLE: Lead Nurse – Simulation based education

ORGANISATION: HUTH

ABOUT YOUR ROLE: 

  • Direct facilitation, I leads the ATHENS course and the majority of nurse based simulation sessions, whether that be in a clinical skills setting or insitu. I guide learners through scenarios, debriefs, and reflective practice to build clinical competence and confidence.
  • Curriculum development, I design, update, and align simulation content with clinical priorities, organisational goals, and learner needs, ensuring teaching remains relevant and evidence‑based.
  • Operational leadership, I manage and support the simulation team, who are responsible for session logistics, preparation of environments and equipment, and ensure smooth delivery of high‑quality simulation experiences across different programmes.

KEY INTERESTS / EXPERTISE:

  • My background includes working in acute medicine and nurse education
  • Deteriorating patients
  • Dirty Wounds!

HOW I CAN HELP:

I can support departments by tailoring training to their needs and current clinical challenges, I can help design and run realistic scenarios that support safe learning and reflective practice. Then through debriefs help them understand what went well and what could improve.

WHY SPARK?:

Networking and collaboration and connecting with like‑minded educators, clinicians, and innovators, opening doors for shared projects, mentorship, and cross‑department learning.
